Where did the US bombers launch from, were they escorted by fighters, and did they face any resistance from Iran?

The B-2 bombers flew from Whiteman Air Base in the US, refueling multiple times during the flight. They entered Iranian airspace with F-15 Eagles as escorts. These F-15s were loaded for SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses), but no Iranian air defenses engaged them — so the Eagles never fired.

Officials also said no Iranian fighter jets showed up or tried to intercept the strike.

It’s surprising that the formation — stealthy B-2s flying alongside non-stealthy F-15s — faced no resistance. The F-15s should have been seen on radar.

One reason could be Israel’s earlier SEAD missions that may have wiped out Iran’s air defenses along the route, leaving their radars blind. If so, Iran’s air force wouldn’t have been able to spot or react to the US bombers and escorts.

While B-2s are stealthy and hard to detect, the F-15s are not. Their survival suggests Iran’s radars were likely down — not that Iran’s entire air force was destroyed — but that Iran lacked the situational awareness (ISR) to track the incoming strike.
